FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Pokemon training is illegal?
> Yes, within loros, pokemon training is illegal. pokemon are views as tools at best, and weapons at worst by the government. as a result, only those with permits are granted permission to be around them. while everyone within the militia has a permit out of necessity, rich civilians who give "generous donations" to the empire occasionally have pet-grade pokemon permits. rich business owners who need pokemon can also convince the government to give them permits. (ex. the owner of a powerplant desiring electric pokemon to help power it, or a farmer desire tauros to help with planting crops.)
> often times, military families will "give" their children pokemon that they then grow up with. Upon graduating from the academy, this child will then officially own this pokemon, as they will then have a handling permit, allowing some soldiers to start out with two pokemon. on the flip side of things, it's not uncommon for people from smaller towns and non-military families to have never seen a domesticated pokemon in their entire life before enlisting or meeting up soldiers.
> while some people do illegally own pokemon- members of spectre fall under this category, along with anyone having purchased them off of the black market-, it is not uncommon for people caught illegally harboring pokemon to be killed by the investigating soldiers, who generally say that it was in self-defense, regardless of what the truth actually is.
> wild pokemon do exist within loros, but because pokeballs and all devices in which they could be captured in are so highly regulated, they cannot be captured. often, these pokemon are feared by civilians who have no way to defend themselves from them- remember, these are mice that can electrocute you, lizards that can burn your house down, and birds that can slice through metal- and low-ranking soldiers are normally assigned the job of hunting them.
How do characters obtain pokemon?
> ICly, characters are most often obtained through service their respective faction.
> oocly, this means being active around site. characters who are heavily involved in both small-scale and large-scale plots and who are constantly completing/joining into threads are likely to be gifted with new pokemon, items like potions or antidotes, the offer to evolve well-used pokemon, and the ability to rearrange movesets.
> events offer various perks for meeting various requirements. sometimes this involves defeating a certain number of characters from an opposing faction, sometimes this means meeting a certain goal, or stealing pokemon from other characters or npcs. occasionally, raffles are given to allow all people who take place in an event a chance to possibly gain a reward.
Can characters get promotions/change factions?
> yes, characters most certainly can!
> promotions can be offered by higher ranking characters (ex. a noble can choose a soldier or captain to be their heir), or more active characters with more political pull can replace less active canons (ex. a soldier in spectre known for speaking out can replace a speaker who hasn't been posting near as much or making their face known, or an active noble can replace a counselor who has been sitting in the background for too long.)
> characters can change their IC factions by completing a thread in which they are officially accepted into the other faction and then pming a staff member with the link to that thread in order to change have their rank/positions in the head count and directory changed.
What time period does G&G take place in?
> Glory & gore takes place in the current day. that means cellphones, computers, cars, etc all exist. it should be noted that all lines are tapped by the government though, empire propaganda is everywhere, and characters must be careful what they post, because it could get them arrested.
> pokedexes are not a thing in loros, and pokemon centers are not common place. some big hospitals have healing centers for pokemon, but that's about it.
What are relations like with other regions?
> loros region does not associate with any of the outside regions. people do not enter or exit loros. everyone who has lived here has had family here going for generations back. due to the internet existing, people do know of other regions, however, none of them have ever been there, nor have any of the people from those regions visited.
