I really don't think that anyone is trying to invalidate your claims, but instead merely trying to reassure you that we have not had such experiences and feel that that isn't likely to happen here, and as Shinxy said earlier, if needed, I don't mind taking them down in the future if they truly start to tear apart the community as seems to be suggested here: I can admit when I've make a mistake.
We understand that you are merely trying to share why you are against this, and you don't need to feel attacked, in contrast, the others are just sharing why they are for OTMs and the community getting a say in where some of the prizes go, instead of me being the only one. Anything could go bad in theory, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it shouldn't be given a chance. People can argue in cboxes and cliques can form within them, but that doesn't mean we don't add them to sites, we merely try to keep watch and encourage the community to interact with each other, for instance. It just comes down to the community and if you're willing to give them a shot at trying to reward each other. Bad eggs occur, it happens. Sometimes people have bad experiences with things, and while there's a chance that it could happen, so far it seems that there's also a lot of people who have had a good experience with OTMs.
As for the whacky nomination things: These are for community building. While RPing and serious growth are important, so are things like inside jokes that promote community and if, as general consensus says that these little jokes are important and should be rewards, should they not? The social aspect of any roleplay is just as important as the roleplaying itself. If the community isn't enjoyable and can't joke around, then how fun really is it?
Edit: I posted this before I saw Witch's response, give me a few minutes to respond. ALRIGHT THERE WE GO.
