I HUNGER FOR A NEW LEASE ON LIFE

Lotus was born with a pretty face and a reasonably lithe figure. That didn't stop Lotus from being brought up into the trade of her father - the metalworking industry, and other related trades. Lotus was thus able to build up a strong core and inner strength at a young age. On top of this, Lotus' family was middle-class. They weren't particularly rich but they weren't dirt poor, either. They were an average family. So what exactly went wrong? Well, Lotus' father was incredibly fond of betting illegally, and had a very bad gambling habit. This cut into a lot of the family funds when they lost (though there were times where Lotus' father went big). On top of this, Lotus' father was also an alcoholic. As a result, Lotus was often mistreated at home and both her and her mother were subjected to a variety of alcohol-driven abuses. Also, Lotus was repeatedly treated inappropriately by her father and lechers she might have encountered on the street.

The family could occasionally run weeks with little to no food as well. Lotus often found herself resorting to thievery or mugging in order to make ends meet. Lotus became enraged at how she was being treated - she enjoyed the times when she was learning how to wield hammers, tools, and found herself inspired when she was looking at all the different kinds of Empire-manufactured equipment being produced, but this was all made moot when Lotus experienced physical and verbal abuse from her father.

Eventually the mother joined in too, taking out her own frustrations on the nightlife of her husband on Lotus. However this was also the time Lotus was of age to join the Empire military academy. Lotus ran away from home once to clear her mind and to avoid the drunken rampage of her father, also just as enraged. An Empire man on patrol saw the poor Lotus rampaging about the street, attempting to look for food from trash cans and other rubbish dumps. While he did not feel sorry for Lotus, he did tell her that if she wanted food, she could use her strength by enlisting into the army. The conversation that took place probably sounded like this:

"You want more food, kid?"

"Hell yeah."

"Well, you should fuckin' join the military. You can get all the food you want there!"

"Really?"

"Yeah! And you can do this!"

When the Empire patrol demonstrated the amount of violence that Lotus could potentially do, the babyfaced girl was hooked. Lotus thanked the patrolman for the advice and decided that she would enlist in the Empire military. She wrote a hastily written note to her parents explaining that she would join the Empire military in the hopes that she could straighten herself out, and that her parents could also straighten themselves out. Lotus was accepted into the academy and assigned a Growlithe, who would eventually become Lotus' only real friend for most of her days in the years she spent undergoing her training. Lotus demonstrated an abnormal amount of physical strength, rivaling that of the older male militants or even outclassing their strength entirely. On top of this, Lotus' lithe figure gave her a speedier advantage.

Lotus was eventually tested using Empire tech to make sure she wasn't cheating her academy training - there were no traces of illegal substances used to artificially enhance her strength. Lotus credits her immense physical power to her training with heavy hardware and tools as a young child, but more importantly her intense anger and rage towards her parents for mistreating her and neglecting her. Lotus would often induce concussions and other injuries incurred by blunt force trauma by accident when she was sparring with other recruits, and she had a tendency to use her Growlithe, whom she called Cauchemar after a demon doll she read about in one of her mother's old books, to inflict pain on other recruits who bullied her for her looks.

As a result, Lotus was branded as a problem child - someone who was too violent and too strong for their own good... Until one of the instructors at the academy discovered through discourse with Lotus that she was willing to shape up if she was just treated well - a regular amount of food, free from bullying, and the like. The instructor learned about Lotus' story and advised everyone else that the best way to tame Lotus was by giving her motivation to behave well and do well in her tasks, usually with food. Lotus loved food. By using the promise of good food as a reward, Lotus ended up becoming one of the strongest soldiers in her batch of recruits.

With the carrot-on-a-rope methodology, Lotus graduated with flying colours, and was able to keep the Growlithe she was assigned as a reward, since it appeared that when they tried to take the Growlithe back away from her, Lotus threatened to, in her words, "break the spine of the person who took Cauchemar away from her with her own two hands." Afraid that Lotus would go wild, they yielded to the babyfaced beast and let her become a full-fledged member of the Empire military. Lotus was often dispatched on missions deemed far too dangerous for numerous people to handle due to logistics missions, but also deemed far too difficult for a single or small group of people due to the nature of the mission. Usually this was a takedown mission, and Lotus was often rewarded with treats in the form of great food that Lotus enjoyed eating. Over time, Lotus and her Growlithe Cauchemar became best of friends and Cauchemar evolved into an Arcanine.

News of Lotus' brutal strength and deeds out in the field spread and eventually Lotus became known as the Cerberus of the Empire, named after the monstrous three-headed dog which guarded the gates of Hell in Greek mythology. Lotus was often quoted to be as loyal and as obedient as a dog, but as fierce and as destructive as a beast. It is a wonder that the Empire has managed to tame this enraged soul to become their tool as an enforcer and as a killer. However, it is also said that Lotus' only Pokemon, Cauchemar, is the only one capable of exposing Lotus' more humane and friendly side.

Origin Cauchemar originally started as the Pokemon the Academy assigned to Lotus, but Lotus was permitted to keep the Pokemon after graduation since Lotus threatened extreme violence to various faculty and staff at the Academy if she wasn't allowed to keep him.
Personality Cauchemar is a loyal beast, just like Lotus is towards her own superiors. They share some sort of kindred bond, and they act very friendly towards one another. However, Cauchemar himself can be rather fierce towards strangers. Much like a dog. His fierce loyalty towards Lotus probably would have made things rather iffy for his new owner if Lotus hadn't convinced the academy that she should keep him. In fact, for all purpose and intents, Cauchemar is basically a dog.
