Now there's nothing but time that's wasted

The Kavanaughs are a wealthy family hailing from Whitecoast. They gained and have kept their money and safety by siding with the Empire throughout their history. Though not the oldest or richest family in the region, they keep a sizable household and continue to contribute to the efforts of the Empire. Among their modest number is a line of military men. At least one male from every generation has become an officer in the Empire. Next in line for this tradition is Seth, an only child.

Despite being groomed to enter the ranks since birth, this softhearted boy has never exceeded the expectations of his superiors. Be they parents or commanders, those in charge of Seth never quite got the ruthlessness the Empire seems to covet anymore from him. Sure, he would follow orders--attend his classes; train his Shinx (or Geodude during his time as a cadet); make friends with the children of other nobles, and later fellow cadets; run drills; combat wild Pokemon--but he would always find a way out of the darker duties. Even when sparring as a child, Seth would always insist on helping the opponent's Pokemon recover from the battle.

In school, Seth always performed admirably. He was even among the top of his class, getting high marks in every subject. He was strongly recommended to enter the military. By "strongly" I mean his teachers and tutors thought it was a good idea whereas his parents gave him no other choice. With his impressive performance in scholastic efforts, the complaints from his commanding officers (and even one from a family friend in a position of power at the academy) came as a shock to his parents.

Having been sent to train as a cadet at the age of sixteen without much of a say in it, Seth did the bare minimum. Of course the boy wanted to help the Empire--who wouldn't? He certainly didn't want to disappoint his parents or bring shame on his family. He performed adequately in areas like strategy and tactics, but when it came to battles or anything physical he always showed mercy. His leniency cost him quite a few bruises, but he would repeat the action the very next day nonetheless. One thing he has outright refused to do is kill, even simple wild Pokemon. Even just the sight of blood made him squeamish. Seth's nobility is the only thing that let him coast through the training program despite these faults, much to the chagrin of his superiors and fellow cadets.

When he finally graduated, Seth was given two Pokemon: his Luxio, evolved from his childhood pet, Shinx; and a Litwick, issued to him by the Empire. He has spent the past year as a new soldier, taking the mildest, most menial tasks he can. Organize the tactics room? You got it. Patrol for a double shift on one of the easiest routes? Not a problem. Seth might have been under-performing, but no one could say he wasn't obeying orders. Most of his free time was spent either with his Pokemon or socializing, mostly with other low-ranked soldiers.

As the situation between the Empire and Spectre looks grimmer, Seth dreads what might come next. He'll have no choice but to side with the Empire, yet his merciful tendencies could easily put him in danger.

Origin Named by a young Seth, this Pokemon was a Kavanaugh family pet. As an egg, she was purchased by the family and raised as a companion for Seth. The boy raised the Shinx, and a couple years ago coaxed her to evolve. It was hard for the boy to be away from his best friend during his training, but when he graduated, Kitty was given to him to remain as his companion for his career in the Empire.
Personality Having spent her entire life with Seth at her side, Kitty's personality is nearly identical to his: they like the same food, the same environments, react to many situations in similar ways. The one place they differ is when Seth is in danger. Kitty takes on a viciously protective air anytime her trainer is threatened. Otherwise, however, she is relatively calm and quiet, much like the young Kavanaugh.

Origin Upon graduating from the Empire's cadet training program, Seth was given this Litwick. It's taken some work to get the little nugget of a Pokemon to like him, but Seth has managed it to a degree. In the spirit of it's fiery personality--definitely not to compensate for his wimpily named Luxio at all--he has given it the name "Flamelord".
Personality Flamelord is a rather uppity Pokemon. He and his trainer have not known each other for very long and their relationship has been full of its share of pitfalls. This Litwick is rather impulsive and daring; on more than one occasion, when Seth hesitated too long on orders, it acted of its own accord. It is prone to attack quickly, though has started to cool off on these hot-headed traits as the bond with its trainer grows stronger. If anything, Flamelord will forge Seth into a sterner, more mature individual.
