BUT NOW I'VE SEEN THE PAY-OFFS EVERYWHERE I LOOK
History
Gregor's father had always been his hero. Though the man wasn't without his flaws, he was a true family man. Managing a store in a declining economy, taking up odd jobs to keep his family's heads above water, he made raising a family in the crumbling town of Redwell look simple. Of course he wasn't without help. Gregor's mother was not only a dedicated stay-at-home mother, but a master of negotiations and coupon-clipping. His elder brother, Murray, managed to set a good enough example for him, seeing as he was also inspired by his father's hard work.
They always managed. The shop never went without business for too long, and his brother was quick to sign both himself and Gregor up for any job around town that might allow for a couple of smaller hands to help out.
Gregor was ten years old when his brother left to join the military. He took to working at his father's shop while his brother sent back a portion of his earnings. Suddenly, everything became easy. The mood around the house seemed to lighten, the stress that had weighed his parents down being lifted. Of course, Gregor could never get away without working, often spending early mornings and late afternoons helping out at his father's store.
He really had no desire to join the military, instead turning his attention toward medicine. Using some of the money sent by his brother and some funds set aside by his father, he left for medical school to become a nurse - finding two years of schooling to be much more acceptable than a doctor's typical seven. He moved to Valedge to attend college, serving his clinical hours in the Valedge Hospital. It was in that town that he met his wife, Nicole.
Even with Gregor head over heels, it took a long time for their relationship to grow. He had already finished with college and worked for two years as a nurse before he came to the realization he wasn't content. He wanted to become a doctor, but with all of the family's money having been sunk into his nursing degree he couldn't simply return to college. At that point it became clear what he had to do, so he quickly married Nicole and set out to join the military at the age of twenty-two.
After spending a couple of years training as a cadet, he was permitted to become a full time soldier for the Empire and sent to serve in Bellefield. After finally being allowed to check his email, he found his wife had given birth to a son while he was away. Though he was busy with having stationed in the city with the largest store in all of Loros, they kept in touch the best they could, though neither could deny that they were drifting apart. He served in Bellefield for four years and had a number of close calls there, losing a couple of fellow soldiers as well as his right eye.
He resigned from the military and returned to Valedge to find that he and his wife had changed even more than they had realized before. It seemed all that held them together was their love for their son, Rory. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Gregor cheated on his wife and she moved away, leaving Rory with him.
Gregor struggled with juggling a part-time job, caring for a six year old boy, and attending medical classes. Three years into his schooling she allowed for him to finally contact her. They had had another child, a daughter, and Nicole was in the hospital. His daughter was already two years old when he finally met her, and Nicole died only three months later.
With four more years of school ahead and two children to take care of, he didn't think he would be able to manage. His mother often came to help take care of the children, and his brother visited whenever he had the chance. Thankfully it was enough to allow him to finish up his college courses. He quickly applied for a work grade pokemon permit and made a trip to Southwall to buy a pokemon - which was exactly what gave him the edge to make him desirable employee. He was hired on as a doctor at the Valedge Hospital and set to work with his Happiny.
From that point on, things went along smoothly enough. His son joined the military at age sixteen, just as his brother had, and Gregor kept in close contact with his family while spoiling his nine-year-old daughter with all the love and affection he could manage without outright smothering her.
He was forty-four when his mother died. Upon her death his father moved in with him. Having already shown signs of Alzheimer's, no one in the family was willing to let him live alone. Gregor quit his job at the hospital and opened a private clinic to be able to better look after his father. In one year's time his father had to be admitted to a care facility.
The year after that proved to be even more difficult. Both his son and his brother died in the riot in Newhaven. Two months after receiving the news he referred out all of his clients and reenlisted in the military at age forty-six, determined to see a stop put to the Spectres before they could reach the one person he had left. His daughter.
Pokemon
Name Davy Jones
Species Blastoise
Gender Male
Ability Torrent
Moveset Flash Cannon | Rapid Spin | Iron Defense | Hydro Pump
Origin Assigned to Baltey after he reenlisted.
Personality A battle-hardened veteran who has seen many years of battles, Davy Jones has all the wisdom and discipline expected of such an experienced pokemon. Clever, quiet, and a bit of a show off, he fights hard under the assumption that he has something to prove. He can't help but strike poses for the ladies but usually fails to look cool for long given his dramatic reactions to perceived insults.
Name Nurse Pink
Species Blissey
Gender Female
Ability Healer
Moveset Heal Pulse | Helping Hand | Copycat | Light Screen
Origin Adopted in as a Happiny in Southwall.
Personality Years of working with whiny kids, disrespectful nobles, and ungrateful patients have left Pink bitter and cold. Her lips are stuck in a permanent frown and her beady little eyes lack any sort of love or compassion. She is callous, pushy, and downright hateful toward everyone she meets. It is for these reasons that Nurse Pink has been crowned with the title of "Pissy Blissey."
